Photographs of places, without the drama.

Sela Ferrow photographs coastlines, buildings and weather for architects, editors and print, in natural light and with honest edits.

Sea cliffs with green tops falling to a calm sea under a pale, cloudy sky.
Smooth white curved surfaces of a modern building, overlapping in soft light.
Tall dark pine trees fading into thick white fog.
From North coast, winter; Concrete and light; and Low cloud. Sample photos.

Projects

Longer series, each shot over several visits. A project is where to start if you're commissioning work like it.

  • Dark, wet rocks on a beach under heavy storm clouds.

    North coast, winter

    20267 frames

One stretch of coast in the worst light of the year, shot over four visits.

  • Rows of angled concrete balconies on an apartment block, in black and white.

    Concrete and light

    20256 frames

Housing and civic buildings, photographed when the shadows are doing the work.

  • A still lake reflecting snowy pine trees and low grey cloud.

    Low cloud

    20256 frames

Forests and water on days when the cloud sits on the trees.

How a booking works

Most commissions are a single day on location. Weather is part of the plan, not a surprise.

  1. 01

    Tell me about the place

Where it is, what the photographs are for, and any dates that matter. The booking form asks the right questions.

  2. 02

A plan and a fixed quote

I reply with a shot list, the best time of day for the light, a weather back-up date and one price for the job.

  3. 03

    Shoot, edit, deliver

You get a contact sheet within two days and the finished files within a week, with the licence written in plain words.

What you get

The same for every booking, whatever the size.

Edited files in two sizes
Full resolution for print and a web size, named and ordered to match the shot list.
A contact sheet first
Every usable frame, so you choose the final set, not just me.
Honest edits
Colour, exposure and straight verticals. Nothing added or removed from a building or a view without asking first.
A weather day
If the light is wrong on the day, we move to the back-up date at no extra cost.
A licence you can read
One page that says where you can use the photos, for how long, and what needs asking.
Prints on request
Archival prints of any frame in the portfolio, made and checked before they're sent.

Questions

Do you travel?

Yes. Travel time and costs are quoted with the plan, before you agree to anything.

What if the weather is wrong?

Every booking has a back-up date. If the light on the day won't give you the photographs we planned, we move, at no extra cost.

Can we use the photos for anything?

The standard licence covers your website, social posts, reports and print. Advertising, resale and exclusive use are quoted separately.

Do you photograph people?

Only as part of a place, such as a figure in a doorway for scale. No portraits, events or weddings.

Can I buy a print?

Yes, any frame from the portfolio. Use the booking form and choose Prints.

Have a place in mind?

Tell me where it is and what the photographs are for. I'll reply with a plan and a quote.
